Don't care for Carl's delivery. Sandy is the worst public speaker. All the others are great!

I appreciate seeing these videos on hybrids, but understand that not everyone who watches videos here likes them. Perhaps a focus on some of the best-in-segment or most-important hybrids could be a worthy strategy. Stuff like the Maverick (done already!!), but also perhaps vehicles like the Lexus ES300H or Camry Hybrid, both of which get fantastic fuel economy. A look into one of Volvos PHEV's, something like the S90 T8, could be pretty intriguing too, they do a lot of engineering stuff differently (like some new models using a leaf spring in the rear suspension); with very minimal yet well-built interiors.

I think this interior design is really lacking… bummer.

Luxury – something adding to pleasure or comfort but not absolutely necessary. The Tundra isn't just a luxury, it's an extravagant personal vehicle for consumers who are spoiled rotten.
If a personal vehicle is not needed to haul cargo as a job, any truck is a luxury. What you are talking about is relative extravagance, with an arbitrary base as necessary, which it isn't. Sandy's Rivian is so absolutely unnecessary that it exceeds obscene. So is my +3000# 14 year old small SUV. Both of us could do is necessary with smaller vehicles. With different choices of where we live, much of our local travel wouldn't need a mitorized personal vehicle.

thanks, appreciate the video. It seems that he is more objective on his recent reviews than his early appearances.

It is a truck! A truck from the world's largest sedan maker that is what you get. Biased? Can I be biased just because the very first car I drove in the US was a Ford Pinto? After all the Mustang is a horse too and my stigma is sort of not going away.

Carl, did you have ample head/roof separation? Maybe the camera angle made it appear to be minimal.

This truck doesn't say "i'm going to camping or I'm going to work" –
This truck says, "I'm dropping by the bank again, on my way to go golfing" —

Carl, you are amazing with your critique and knowledge. Outstanding presentation
If you allow me to add couple of points first beauty and/or perceived luxury is more of symmetry, proportionality, consistency and soft transition between shapes, surfaces and material. While can be subjective statement but holds true for most of the cases
From your presentation, donโ€™t see or feel this on this vehicle. Different types and sizes of switches, very large protruding AC vents, boxy door design, choices of colours (such as white arm rests and headrests), centre consol edges, door arm rest leather wrapping ..etc.

Second point, the human machine interface seems to be overlooked here with what you called hidden or shelf bottons and placement of switches (not easily accessible or seen).

This vehicle screams โ€œLook How I lookโ€

Worked for 4 auto manufacturers for 17 years of my career. Many years ago rented 2 vehicles that challenged me when I went to pick them at night. The Prius, took me few minutes to figure out how to find and release the parking brakes at night; and RAV 4 where I had to use my phone light find out the mirror switches to be able to adjust.

Like all truck manufacturers, the great majority of truck buyers buy them for "lifestyle purposes" … meaning for looks.. not work… the largest profit margins are in the "lifestyle truck" segment… Luxury suv is not new and similar… it's crossing over into pickups… Landcruiser, G-Wagon, GX, LX, Landrover etc… people can now enjoy that lux in a pickup too ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Ugly interior. Why is a thing that ISN'T a glovebox (or anything else) better if it looks like old luggage?

@johnnyb8629

My first thought is no fucken way is this worth 77K! secondly, its barely a truck with the short bed, when did a 5' or 6' bed become normal? If you cant lay drywall or plywood down flat with the tailgate up its not a normal bed. The interior is hideous, I can't imagine having to live with that truck and keeping it clean, I would have to pay a few hundred buck every two months for detailing. OK, moving on , the buttons, have always been a problem with Toyota, its like they cant design the vehicles interior for big Americans, for the love of God, someone send them some American mannequins. I owned a 2006 Toyota Tundra and I would hit the emergency lights all the time, in fact every time my daughters would get into a fight in the truck you knew it because the flashers would be on. Just about everything in this truck is odd, again, who the F–K is in charge of designing this monstrosity? I can only imagine what his house looks like. They are going to go out of business unless they fire some of these designers, and FFS don't sell any vehicles in the rust belt with out undercoating the damn things, my 2006 rusted in half a year or two after the class action suit finalized.
