I do recall arcades in Southern California had Konami's Guitarfreaks (and Drummania) during the DDR boom (early 2000's) and before Guitar Hero was made, I guess this video is more on the home market, as Guitarfreaks was only arcades
Remember when these plastic instruments were everywhere? So popular
Iโm baffled why this video has not been suggested more
I also loved GH World Tour their version of Rock Band, the drum kit with elevated cymbals was a blast !! ๐ฅ ๐ฅ
The real reason Konami never brought Guitar Freaks and Bemani to the US in an official capacity is the costs with music licensing or reworking the game with new songs.
Question for Kai: Every hear of "Dance Dance Immolation"? So fun….
A bit light on their inspiration having been an american clone of GuitarFreaks though.
Was kind of a pita to get downloaded, but I can't wait to give it a listen.
Thanks ๐
These are great videos. I think it sucks when trump is reelected by losers in my country we will force china into a nuclear war we will lose.
the only guitar hero I know is Bocchi
Love to sometimes out the box! ๐
Although I played a lot more Rock Band (2 & Beatles), Guitar Hero still deserves much respect for bringing this genre to the US! <3
i would have thought it would have been a hit with the heavy metal crowd ???
back then, almost all music games were arcade only and they were hugely popular. Deep down they wanted people to keep going to the arcades. Konami did eventually port older versions of guitarfreaks and drummania to ps2 but it was JP only and the port wasn't good because the guitar controller was really small.
subscribed to the Island of Taiwan :), fully
Wish guitar hero was still here
Guitar hero, was the spark that pushed me to a real guitar ๐ and I must say, people are impressed with both xD and that kinda sucks because real guitar is far more painful and time consuming xD
ROFL Asianometry letting it's inner meme lord run totally lose…
Ah, memory lane… I loved Guitare Hero.
Now I have Beat Saber and it's a blast.
Our two kids mastered that game; they thoroughly enjoyed it, thank the authors for me.

This would make a great South Park episode.
Rocksmith supremacy!
That said thanks for the video.
Rockband is one of the only PS3 games I own.
I want: "Light Show Hero."
Dem, I thought it was Bocchi the rock
Awwwww Success Stories like this make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
Actually diversifying content
wait. . . what. . .
Boochi
So grateful for your content. But please cover more of the oil/energy industry
it was actually tommy tallarico, i'm grateful he invented not only the guitar, but the concept of music as well
Neat!
Some of the stock footage for this one is wild
why no mention of guitarfreaks?
I would like to know why Guitar Hero is no longer a thing.
Definitely like the idea of games that use non-standard controllers
great video!
Guitar Hero 3 showed me music I never heard before
Guitarhero came about when Gotou Hitori began uploading guitar covers to Oh!Tube.
