China has a glasses problem. You might not quite see it because many people wear contacts or get LASIK. But many Chinese are nearsighted.

I noticed that almost all of my friends who did wear eye glasses im class 6-8 were wearing fat glasses when I met them after class 12. It was surprising cuz few of them who were shorter than grew very tall which made me insecure about my 5 8 height and almost everybody had prescription glasses.

I can't see anything wrong with the puns, though maybe I'm blurry on them (looking through rose-colored glasses, so to speak)

Maybe gazing upon this from a different angle could help

My uncle was an optometrist. His opinion was that I spent too much time reading or performing other close work, it would increase my myopia.

I'm pretty sure the reason going outdoors helps is that your eyes have something in the far distance to focus on. That is why working in a sewing factory for instance (personal experience) is really hard on your eyes. When you aren't looking at what your hands are doing, the furthest away you are looking is a blank windowless wall.

Myopia in kids is caused by the excessive continued time spent reading and writing while being immobile.
That should be limited to two hours per day.
Video games have nothing to do with the onset of myopia…

I did not expect such a video.
In Germany i had myopia short (glasses) around the age of 10 or 12. After a few moths the glass could god away. At around 23 it came back and stayed. Personally I also think the bad PC monitors end of the 1980s caused it.
In the video, have a look at the room at min 13:00. The curtain should be removed. Most important, when people look up they should look to the outside. Instead of having a 90 degree angle to he window people should sit a few meters away from the window. But as soon the look up they should look automatically out of the window.
Another point, would it make sense to have a very large screen in the room? Sitting 3-5m away? Used from the notebook and even from the mobile?

My pseudo-conclusion is: the Chinese in China Proper spend more time working, studying, and gaming, and have too little free time to just go and do nothing productive – ie going outside. And I don't think you can reverse the trend of myopia in an individual once it develops. Your eyes need that retinal dopamine in order to develop properly, and if they don't develop properly, you can't un-do that. What we should focus on is, going outside and recreation is more important than productivity, and not getting enough of it will destroy your development in a myriad of ways, also including too little serotonin and vitamin d and a host of other things.

THREE hours a week outside? That is so abnormal / unhealthy. Good lord, even the most insular weirdos like myself spend more time out in nature than that. Also: the Taiwan plan actually makes sense

Itโ€™s easily fixable! I fixed it for few people. Most of our diseases are gut related. Everyday exercise, 4 days running in a week, strength training, daily 10 minutes pranayama, bhashtrika, panchkarma/shathhkarma therapy ( esp Nashyam) with regular body and eye massage can fix it once for all. Use empty belly one triphla Ayurvedic pills or powder with water. You can see results in six months onwards. It has to done for minimum of three years. Itโ€™s no rocket science!! Unless badly damaged, but most of Asian students and peopleโ€™s eyes can easily be fixed by this above method.

No body on internet or TV makes videos on topics like this which at first might sound not so important but indirectly these topics are .

Only Asianometry does ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

I managed to avoid myopia as a nerdy American kid (now young adult) and I realize it's because I spent so much quality time outside when I wasn't playing video games or studying. Baseball and cross country were excellent at getting my eyes to change focal distance a ton.

in Malaysia, while no studies has been done, but it's really becoming obvious, go to any school, and you will see 9 out of 10 people wearing spectacles lol.

It's the same in India as well.

The emphasis on one or two important exams isn't about education.

It's a rat race that people have kids engage in cynically and unknowingly.

Focusing on guild school like settings for a lot of professions could help rectify this.

It's not like the children remember most of what they've had to memorize either way.

First world countries can afford more of a holistic approach generally. As long as there's an economic burden and general apathy, this format of examination will linger in some form.

I wonder if "Spending time out doors" can be a stand-in for eyes that don't spend enough time focused at longer distances become worse at doing so over time.
